The High-Level Business Dialogues bring together leaders from private sector organisations in Turkey and the EU, Turkish public bodies and the EU institutions, in order to analyse and discuss the economic relationship between the EU and Turkey, and how it can be further strengthened so as to maximise the benefits for both sides.

The Turkey-EU Business Dialogue (TEBD) project includes 3 one-day High-Level Business Dialogue meetings, to be organised in close cooperation with the Turkish authorities and the EU institutions, preferably in connection with the EU-Turkey High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED).The High-Level Business Dialogues, organised in the framework of the TEBD project, follows on from the successful business community meetings which were held alongside the EU-Turkey High-Level Economic Dialogues in Istanbul in 2016 and in Brussels in 2017.

Each High-Level Business Dialogue gathers around 100 high-level representatives from Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Commodity Exchanges and other business organizations, policy makers and companies from the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Turkey. The main purpose is to discuss challenges and opportunities and to develop draft recommendations from the business community towards the policy-makers, with the aim of improving EU-Turkey relations and economic cooperation, and thereby contributing to the further development of the Customs Union and to moving forward Turkey’s EU accession process.

The first High-Level Business Dialogue, in the framework of the TEBD project, was organised as part of the EU-Turkey High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) in Istanbul, Turkey in 2019. The second High-Level Business Dialogue was organised on EU Green Deal virtually in March 2021. The third High-Level Business Dialogue is foreseen to be organised in the first quarter of 2022.
