TEBD Study Visit to Latvia and Estonia
Representatives from 12 Turkish Chambers participated in the TEBD Study Visit to Latvia and Estonia from 27 to 31 January 2020, which focused on ‘Business Cooperation between Turkey and the Baltic States’. This activity was hosted by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and organised in cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During four intensive days, the Turkish participants were able to obtain a better understanding of the business cooperation and opportunities between Turkey and the Baltic States, and how Turkish Chambers and their members can benefit from them.
The programme included visits to several companies, including PERUZA in Riga as well as the ABB Factory and EUROBIO LAB in Tallinn. The participants also had the chance to learn about best practices from clusters such as the Cleantech Latvia Cluster and the Food Products Quality Cluster, both based in Riga. During a visit to e-Estonia Briefing Centre, the participants learned about the importance of digital technologies for the Estonian economy, and how the country has managed to build a secure e-services ecosystem with a smart infrastructure.
In Riga, the participants were invited for a meeting with Turkey’s Ambassador to Latvia, Gülsun Erkul, and they took this opportunity to discuss with her the opportunities that closer economic ties between Turkey and the Baltic States are creating for businesses on both sides.
