Study Visit in İstanbul

The first Study Visit to Turkey focused on PORTS & LOGISTICS SECTORS, and was combined with the participation in the Study Visit in İstanbul. This first Study Visit in Turkey has been organised for EU Chamber representatives, from 25th to 28th February 2019, and took place in Istanbul.

The main objective of this Study Visit was to allow EU Chamber representatives to obtain a better understanding of the importance of the ports and logistics industry in Turkey, and the opportunities for EU business. The Turkish logistics sector is worth over €100 billion and is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. It has attracted nearly €2 billion foreign investment in the last 10 years and the share of the logistics sector in Turkey’s GDP has reached 14%.

The Study Visit has been prepared by the TEBD team and TOBB with the support of the Istanbul Chambers; it included several presentations from the sector, as well as site visits to the Istanbul port and brand new Istanbul Airport.
